Fragmented Illusions

Fragmented Illusions

Medium: Colored pencil and acrylic paint on canvas

Size: 9 x 9 inches

Intention

Continuing with the idea of hiding and disliking yourself, I chose to depict a teenage girl that is experiencing body dysmorphia. Through the use of mirrors, I drew a girl with dysmorphic features in value scales of graphite pencil. A good friend of mine struggles with body dysmorphia and self confidence within her appearance. The motto was the catalyst for this piece as she is a good of mine. This color palette depicts the darkness this feeling can convey as well as the feeling of numbness.
